Riding School and Pony Club Centre

Thanks for visiting

Established in 1965, Fergushill Riding Stables LLP is a family run friendly riding school situated in North Ayrshire. Our facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas and all of our stables are indoors providing protection from the West of Scotland weather. We also have 'The Pony Club Hall', a recreation room for training, fun and fund raising activities.

COVID-19 UPDATE  13/03/21 Please read before attending and check back regularly for updates.

With the latest lifting of some restrictions and in line with advice from Horsescotland, things are slowly becoming more normal.  Organised outdoor sport has resumed for up to 15 participants (including coaches etc.) and under 17's are permitted to go outside their local authority boundaries to attend their clubs and sports.  Please refer to Horsescotland's website or our Facebook page for more information.

We look forward to welcoming more of our riders back in the coming weeks, please get in touch if you wish to come back, your lesson time may have changed.

We have resumed some group lessons and are following government guidelines and advice from industry bodies.

The health and safety of our clients, visitors and staff is our priority and we are taking measures to ensure the wellbeing of everyone who attends our premises.

If you or anyone in your household has symptoms of Covid-19, loss of taste or smell, dry cough or high temperature, please do not attend.

If anyone in your household is self-isolating, please do not attend.

We are offering lessons as per current government guidelines and advice from Horsescotland.  .

We are not resuming beginners group classes at this time and have a waiting list for beginner's lunge lessons.

We politely ask parents not to congregate when waiting for their children.

We request that you wear clean gloves when attending to ride.

Reins and saddles will be cleaned between riders.

Hats and body protectors will NOT be available for loan from FRS at this time.

Staff have masks and visors to be used when necessary but we intend to stay more than 2 metres away whenever possible.

New clients will be required to complete registration form found on this website, please copy, paste, print, fill in and bring it with you when you attend.

We require payment in a sealed envelope with your name, amount and date written on outside and posted in the box provided onsite.

In the case of group lessons, a list of which pony each rider has been allocated will be displayed on the notice board in the lower gallery next to the post box for your payment envelope.  Check which pony you have been allocated then make your way directly to the stable, wait there until you are invited to bring your pony to the covered arena to mount.

Your pony will be ready for you in it's stable, the door will be open and your pony tied up.  You will have to unhook the pony from the lead rope and lead to the arena under supervision by instructor.

Please resist the temptation to pat other ponies or watch others in their lessons.

Whenever possible, lessons will be conducted OUTDOORS however we are permitted to use the covered arena due to the level of ventilation.

Please use hand sanitiser provided on arrival and before leaving.

No more than one adult from the same household as the rider may attend during the lessons, the viewing gallery is not in use however there is some space in the lower gallery.  We ask that 2 metre distancing is observed throughout our premises.

We may update any of the above as we obtain more information, please check before attending, the most up to date information can be found on our Facebook page.

Thank you for your cooperation - stay safe!

 I understand that riding at any standard has inherent risk and that all horses may react unpredictably on occasions.

 I may fall off and could be injured. I accept that risk.

 I understand that instructions are given for my safety and agree to follow instructions given to me by staff and instructors at the riding school.

 I reserve the right not to ride a horse allocated to me and may request a change of instructor.

 I understand that wearing an appropriate hat and body protector may reduce the severity of an injury should an accident happen and agree that I will always wear a riding hat whilst riding, leading and grooming horses at the riding school. I understand that it is my choice whether or not to wear a body protector.

 I understand that the riding school will make decisions based on information I give them and agree to always be honest and volunteer information about:

 my abilities and riding experience

 any previous riding accidents

 any medical condition(s) which may affect my ability to ride

 any condition that may affect my understanding of instructions

 I understand that children are at particular risk around horses and agree that I will keep any children that I am responsible for, under close supervision when they are not being instructed by the riding school.

 I understand that the riding school may refuse my request to ride for safety and operational reasons.

 I understand that competing carries enhanced risk over and above general riding and agree that if I chose to participate in any competition or event, it is up to me to ensure that I have the experience and ability to ride the course including any jumps which form part of it. If I am in any doubt, I will use my judgement and experience and not enter.

Frequently asked questions can be answered in the following paragraphs.

We are a Pony Club Centre linked with the National Pony Club. Members can gain badges for equine and non equine related subjects and receive certificates for Progressive Awards and Efficiency Tests even if they have no pony of their own.

Our qualified and experienced staff pride themselves in delivering educational and progressive tuition whilst ensuring clients enjoy the fun of riding. We specialise in teaching children and young people from the age of 6 and regret that we are unable to accommodate adults.

If you would like to enquire about your child riding with us, please contact us with their name, age, approximate height and weight if over 10, your name and contact telephone number.  We don't start riders until they are 6.

In December 2015 we handed over a cheque to CHAS (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) for over £12,400.00. This followed a year of fundraising and lots of baking, scavenger hunting, photography, story writing, partying, bingo and even an auction. Well done to Kayleigh Porter and Rebecca Sloan who raised the two largest amounts from the sponsored 'Ride & Run' event. Thank you to everyone who took part, who sponsored the riders and those who generously donated prizes, without you this amazing amount would not have been possible.
